Warsaw. December 1945.  Mathilde, a young Red Cross doctor, is approached by a nun who tells her that some women at a nearby convent are in need of medical attention. When Mathilde arrives there, she is confronted by a horrific situation. Based on the memoirs of French doctor, Madeleine Pauliac, the film provides a potent glimpse of female suffering in the aftermath of war and the strength of religious faith under siege.

When his school friends leave the Yorkshire village to go off to university, Johnny has to stay behind to run the family farm.  Becoming increasingly bitter with his hard and lonely life, he tries to drown his frustrations in binge drinking and casual sex. When a Romanian farm worker arrives to help out with lambing, Johnny begins to sense a more hopeful future. A homage to the harsh but beautiful landscape of the Dales and the farmers who struggle to make a living there.

Rural North-East England 1865. Katherine is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age and by his cold and unforgiving family. When she is attracted to a young worker on the family estate she stops at nothing to fulfil her desires. Reverberating with ideas about the power structures of Victorian England – class, gender and race -the plot provides plenty of shocks. One critic described Katherine as ‘Lady Chatterley gone ballistic’!

In a dystopian near-future the spread of a deadly virus among the people is blamed on their dogs and all the canine pets are transported to a remote island rubbish dump. A young boy, distraught by the loss of his beloved Spot, sets off to rescue him. Funny, but also grotesque and shocking, the film is far from a cute and cuddly pet rescue adventure.
